WELCOME! This POINT Homepage has been designed to tell you everything you need to know about POINT. Please make yourself at home. After all, that's what being Italian is all about. If you would like to learn more about POINT, our publications and our other activities, please tour any (or all) of the sections on this site. We have tried to make the site as helpful, informative and as easy to use as possible, with a minimum of time-consuming fancy graphics. We believe you came here to learn about POINT and Italian genealogy, not to waste your time watching your monitor's screen do tricks. It is important - - - before joining POINT - - - that potential POINT members know what POINT is all about and what POINT can - - - and cannot - - - do for the Italian Genealogist and the Italian Family Historian. POINT is NOT a genealogical research service. POINT was created in 1987 and is the largest network of Italian family historians in the world, with over 5200 members (some 1000 active) who eagerly share their knowledge and expertise with one another: in the pages of our quarterly, POINTers at POINTers In Person (PIP) meetings across America on our POINTers In E-Mail (PIE) mail list via an exchange of letters through other personal communication If you are: interested in your Italian heritage or your Italian roots are pursuing your Italian surnames are trying to create - or expand - your Italian family tree you have finally come to the right place. Over the last six years, our renewal rate is 85% - This indicates how strongly our members feel about the value of their POINT membership. And you will, too, once you become a member of POINT. POINTers features letters and articles from members who are: sharing family stories discussing their own search for their ancestors giving tips on how to solve genealogy problems and requesting assistance, as well as more scholarly articles. POINTers is published quarterly: Spring (April) Summer (July) Autumn (October) Winter (January) Back issues of POINTers are available. Write for prices and availability.
